Subfloor Condition:
The subfloor must be clean, dry, and level. Concrete, plywood, or OSB are all suitable bases. Remove any debris or old flooring that could interfere with installation.
Underlayment Requirements:
Use a quality underlayment to reduce noise, add cushioning, and protect against moisture. Some laminate products come with attached underlayment—check before purchasing.
Acclimation:
Allow laminate planks to acclimate in the room for 48–72 hours before installation to prevent expansion or contraction after install.
Installation Method:
Laminate typically uses a click-lock system that floats over the subfloor—no glue or nails required. Leave a 1/4-inch expansion gap around walls and fixed objects.
Room Preparation:
Clear furniture and maintain a stable indoor climate. Ensure door trims and moldings are removed or undercut for a clean fit.
Removal of existing flooring available upon request.
Laminate flooring offers the look of hardwood with easy maintenance. To keep it in top shape, sweep or vacuum regularly using a soft brush attachment to remove dust and debris. Avoid wet mops or excessive water—laminate is sensitive to moisture. Instead, use a damp microfiber mop with a laminate-safe cleaner.
Clean up spills immediately to prevent warping. For tough spots like grease or scuffs, a small amount of acetone or nail polish remover on a cloth can help—just test in an inconspicuous area first. Use protective pads under furniture and place rugs in high-traffic areas to minimize wear. With proper care, laminate flooring can stay beautiful for years.
